Lido
There was a time, not so long ago, when people would make a daytrip to Latvia just to go and eat at Lido, so unheard-of was its set-up: the food prepared before your eyes; the sides you served yourself, and the sheer variety of them. For Estonians, it was a completely new dining concept, but also a cosy one that reminded them of home. Stuffed pancakes, meat patties with pan-fried potatoes, chicken & dumpling soup, fried cod... Everything was so familiar, so recognisable, and the prices so reasonable.
Of course, there’s no need to drive all the way to Latvia anymore: the Lido restaurant in Solaris has just undergone a complete makeover, but still offers the food and service everyone loves it for. There’s no need to ask if you can hold the olives in your salad, or get rice instead of potatoes – at Lido, you put your meal together just the way you want it.
